Re(DeFi)ning Structured Products

Struct Finance is the first protocol designed to unlock the next generation of financial instruments by building the tools, infrastructure, and foundation necessary to enable structured products on DeFi.

In the past few years, we have witnessed explosive growth in Decentralized Finance (DeFi). We believe that this speed has been largely due to the composable and near permissionless nature of most blockchains, and has resulted in a proliferation of applications that has been built on existing DeFi primitives. Structured products are a natural progression in the industry. They enable a huge array of investment vehicles tailored to a large range of different risk profiles, by combining a basket of fixed income instruments, assets, options, and other derivatives

Struct’s vision is to be DeFi’s most trustworthy and customer-centric platform — where customers can structure, source, and discover investment products tailored to their needs. This vision will be achieved through three core pillars: Primitives, Products, and the Composer.

1. Struct Primitives broadens the design space for structured products by creating composable on-chain financial instruments.
2. Struct Products are DeFi structured products developed internally by the Struct team. These products combine Struct Primitives and other instruments available in the space.
3. The Struct Composer allows users to create vaults to compose and offer their own structured products to the broader market.

These pillars provide the foundation necessary to enable structured products on DeFi. Examples of potential financial products that can be constructed on DeFi include principal-protected investments which guarantee a return equal to the investor’s initial deposit regardless of the performance of the underlying assets, or fixed yield products that provide stable returns similar to bonds.

Furthermore, this provides investors in the space permissionless access to financial products that were once only available to institutions and high-net-worth individuals.
